Michael Tobin

Managing Director, Investment Committee Member

Michael is the Managing Director of Vantage and is responsible for the development and management of all private equity fund investment activity at Vantage and its authorised representatives. He has managed Vantage’s funds share of investment into over $7 billion of Australian Private Equity funds resulting in more than $8 billion of equity funding across 169 underlying portfolio companies. Michael is also responsible for the operational and compliance management of all Vantage managed funds and investment vehicles.

Michael has over 30 years’ experience in private equity management, advisory and investment as well as in management operations. Michael was formerly Head of Development Capital and Private Equity at St George Bank where he was responsible for the management and ultimate sale of the bank’s Commitments and investments in $140m worth of St George branded private equity funds. Michael also established the bank’s private equity advisory business, which structured and raised private equity for corporate customers of the bank. Michael holds a BE (UNSW), an MBA (AGSM) and a Diploma of Financial Services (AFMA) and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

David Pullini

Director, Investment Committee Member

David is a Director of Vantage and has more than 25 years of general management, business development, investment, advisory, acquisitions and divestment experience. In 2005 David was a founding partner of O’Sullivan Pullini, a firm that became recognised as a leading investment bank in Australia. O’Sullivan Pullini completed M&A transactions worth over A$10 billion in value across multiple industry sectors and to a broad cross-section of clients.

The firm was particularly active in advising in the Private Equity space, including successful advisory mandates for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) on the acquisition of the Australian businesses of Cleanaway and Brambles Industrial Services from Brambles Industries, the establishment of a A$4 billion joint venture with the Seven Network and the later divestment of Cleanaway.

Prior to co-founding O’Sullivan Pullini, David managed international corporate businesses for fifteen years in Australia and Europe. For the eight years David was based in Europe, he managed a portfolio of Brambles European based businesses.

David is Chair of Ardea Investment Management, Chair of Humanforce and Chair of Phocas. David is also a Director of Ansarada and Folklore Ventures. David has deep experience and understanding of the key drivers of profitable business growth and the levers of value creation.

David holds a BE Hons. (UTS), an MBA (IMD) and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance (SIA).

Rod McGeoch AO

Investment Committee Chairman (Independent)

Rod is the immediate past Chairman Emeritus of Corrs Chambers Westgarth, a leading Australian law firm and has significant board and advisory experience. His current board positions include; Chairman of Chubb Insurance Australia Limited, Chairman of BGP Holdings PLC, Director of Destination NSW, a Director of Corporation Airports America Inc, Chairman of Shaw Vision Pty Limited and Australia Media Corp Pty Limited.

Rod was also the Chief Executive Officer of Sydney’s successful Olympic bid and a Director of the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games. Rod was awarded membership of the Order of Australia for services to Law and the Community in 1990. In 2013 Rod was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to the community through contributions to a range of organisations and to sport, particularly through leadership.

James Dunning

Investment Committee Member (Independent)

James has over 35 years of management, assurance and advisory experience and was a partner for 21 years in PricewaterhouseCoopers financial services practice. He worked principally with ASX200 investment management and real estate clients, as well as consumer, industrial, pharmaceutical and mining businesses.

He has experience in ASX listings, equity and debt raisings, M&A transactions, due diligence and assurance engagements. He was a member of PricewaterhouseCoopers global real estate management team.

He is currently a Director of Pymble Golf Club and a Principal of FinStream P/L, an online education provider to the financial services sector.

Joseph Rodriquez

Head of Private Capital

Joseph is a highly experienced financial professional with over 17 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, family office and wealth management. Joseph has lived and worked in New York, Melbourne and Sydney.

Joseph was most recently the Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director for a large Multi-Family Office, an institutional grade family office designed to grow and protect intergenerational wealth. Joseph established a full-service multi-family office, including wealth management, private banking, operations, and philanthropy. During this time Joseph led all aspects of the build out and implemented the strategies to achieve the families’ and investors goals and objectives. Joseph oversaw a globally diversified asset allocation investment portfolio within equities, debt, private equity and alternatives. This included direct Private Equity investing experience.

Prior to this, Joseph was a Vice President at Credit Suisse, responsible for a broad range of investment products and services tailored to the sophisticated needs of Ultra High Net Worth, Corporate and Institutional clients. This included all facets of investment banking and advisory across complex equity and debt capital market transactions.

Joseph graduated Monash University with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting & Finance) and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Chris Faddy

Head of Distribution

Chris has over 25 years experience in servicing institutional, intermediary and high-net-worth individuals in Australia and Asia across a broad range of asset classes. He has led sales and marketing functions for leading global asset managers and has founded an Asia-Pacific based asset management business.

Prior to Vantage, Chris was Head of Distribution at Aura, where he was responsible for raising capital for alternative assets, led the wealth business as well as managing the high net worth client base of the firm.

Prior to Aura Chris led teams at BNY Mellon, Credit Suisse, Barclays Capital and Goldman Sachs JBWere where he was responsible for the engagement and management of asset management clients of those firms. During this time, Chris primarily raised assets for alternative strategies including hedge funds, quantitative and algorithmic strategies, property, credit and private equity.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University as well as a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from Finsia. He has previously held qualifications from the ASCPA (CPA), has held Type 1, 4 and 9 qualifications from the SFC (Hong Kong), CMFAS qualified to deal and advise in financial securities in Singapore as well as RG146 qualifications in Australia.

Paul Capito

Investment Director

Paul has extensive experience in M&A and private equity, having advised on tax on cross-border and domestic transactions over the past ten years. Paul typically advised mid-market private equity firms on buy-side and sell-side transactions, as well as various restructures and refinancing events. Paul spent a number of years working in London, advising large European-based private equity firms on a number of significant global and European transactions.

As part of Paul’s experience, he has worked through complex commercial and structuring considerations on transactions, supporting clients in mitigating value risks in their portfolio opportunities and is well-versed with various capital and financial instruments to implement preferred capital structures to allow commercially viable and tax-efficient repatriation of funds.

Paul’s role at Vantage includes conducting the assessment of the potential private equity, co-investment and secondary investment opportunities for Vantage including the development and execution of investment submission presentations to the Investment Committee, the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of underlying fund investments, sourcing investor opportunities for Vantage, and assisting with new structuring ideas for Vantage funds and products.

Paul graduated from the University of Technology Sydney, majoring in Accounting and International Business, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

Maximilian Tobin

Investment Manager

Maximilian conducts the sourcing, assessment and execution of Private Equity investment opportunities across various strategies including Primary, Co-investment and Secondary investments. He establishes and structures unique private equity fund offerings across various strategies for both domestic and foreign investors to participate in the asset class in Australia.

Maximilian also supports Vantage entities with the delivery of day-to-day operations with focus on delivering best-practice enterprise wide services including marketing, human resources and office administrative duties.

Maximilian is a Committee Member, Panelist and Event organiser for the Emerging Leader’s cohort of the Australian Investment Council that is the voice of private capital, helping build thousands of Australian businesses in almost every sector through Private Equity, Venture Capital and Private Credit.

Maximilian holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from Griffith University (Australia).

Jin Wye Yap

Chief Financial Officer

Jin Wye Yap is responsible for the accounting, compliance and management of the fund investment administration for each of Vantage’s Private Equity Fund of Funds entities as well direct fund investment vehicles.

Jin’s role includes; the preparation / review of each Vantage Fund’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial and investor reports, preparation of Board presentations and Investment Committee reports for each fund entity and assistance with the preparation of investment submission reports to the Investment Committee for new underlying fund investments. Jin also manages the tax compliance and year end audits for the Vantage group of management companies and fund entities.

Jin was previously an Audit Manager with PwC Sydney Australia, where he was responsible for the delivery of quality audits in line with the Accounting Standards for organisations across asset management, funds management and real estate. Jin also has experience on regulatory matters in Australia arising from the involvement of AFSLs, Compliance Plans and GS007 control reports. Prior to PwC, Jin was with EY KL Malaysia, where he has similar responsibilities in PwC with exception of Australian regulations and reporting standards.

Jin holds a Bachelor of Business and Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance from Monash University. Jin is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Jack Leggott

Financial Accountant

Jack reports to the CFO and is also responsible for helping with the accounting, compliance and management of the fund investment administration for each of Vantage’s Private Equity Fund of Funds entities. Jack has previously worked in Grant Thorntons Business Tax and Advisory team, working with a range of international and domestic clients to ensure compliance with Australian tax obligations and act as an outsourced finance function.

Jack holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Accounting from Macquarie University, while he is also currently undertaking his Charter Accountants in Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) qualification.

Based in Vantage’s Sydney office Ashli encompasses 6 years of Real Estate/Property experience working in diverse roles including Operations, Office Administration and Executive Assistant at C-Suite level. Ashli prides herself in her ability to nurture and facilitate High Net Worth Individuals and clientele across all her roles. Ashli is instrumental in ensuring there are efficiencies across all areas of the business and plays a key role in providing exemplary support to our Investors, Stakeholders and Investment Team.
